CORE PREVENTION
Parenting Education: Parents & guardians can learn new ways of raising and nurturing  their children. We emphasize positive discipline, effective communication, and limit setting. HCCAPC conducts single session or multi-session groups. Community members can be trained to facilitate Every Person Influences Children (EPIC).
Youth Empowerment: HCCAPC conducts workshops with children to help them understand child abuse, what to do if they or someone they know is being abused and how to keep themselves safe with personal safety skills.
Professional Training: HCCAPC provides training to professionals who work with children - teachers, early childhood personnel, mental health providers and others. Trainings include signs & indicators of abuse, child development, behavior management, and the impact of domestic violence on children.
Coordination & Awareness: HCCAPC works with networks throughout the county to promote, plan, and deliver effective prevention strategies. We publish Nurturing E-News and newsletters periodically and sponsor Dine Out for Kids - an annual event supported by local restaurants.
